Equipment you need

Having the right equipment is essential to successfully running your home contact centre.  As well as needing somewhere quiet, well lit and with enough space for you to work comfortably, there are certain pieces of equipment you must have, as well as certain system requirements your laptop or pc must meet.  More information can be found on our website, Carleton Connections

Please note, the system requirements listed are minimum requirements, and may change in the future, or even vary for different opportunities.  It is your responsibility to ensure you keep up to date with any changes, and to ensure your pc is suitable for any opportunities you enrol on before applying, as Arise will not refund you for any classes booked and not taken

Required Accessories

purchased and set up before you sign up to any certification courses, as refunds will not be given for

courses not taken.

Accessories for your call centre
  • USB headset with microphone

  • Landline phone with headset

  • Blank USB 3.0 stick

  • Fibre optic broadband (ethernet connection)

In order to participate in the training courses, and achieve certification, you will need a USB headset.  Recommended brands include Logitech, Plantronics, Microsoft, or similar.

Calls are routed through your landline (VOIP and mobile are not accepted).  You will also need a suitable headset to plug into your landline, allowing you to take calls and use the software

The Arise platform must be built on an external USB flash drive with a memory of between 8 - 32gb.  This USB stick once configured is designed to transform your PC into a service station for the chosen client program.  This means that when not in use, and ASD (Arise Secure Desktop) is not required, your PC will function normally, as ASD does not interact with your existing Windows operating system.

Wireless internet is not permitted for use with the Arise program.  Your PC must be connected via ethernet cable to the router, and your internet must have a minimum of 10 mbps download speed and Minimum of 3 mbps upload speed along with a latency of less than 120 milliseconds (ms).

Some of this may seem a little daunting at first, but Carleton Connections and Arise Work From Home offer support to make your journey easier.  Check out the Arise video below for useful hints and tips

A bit of background info on our candidates Sam is a recruitment specialist, who normally commutes to Central London on the underground, and has always enjoyed the social side of city working Joe is a media project manager, who drives to a rural location for work, and commutes to work by car with his wife, who works nearby Sean has recently set up his own accountancy firm, based in a busy town centre, and usually drives to work.   1: What are the advantages you have found about working from home? Joe: No distractions of the day to day office life, no travel time and not having the expense and hassle of a commute. 2: What are the disadvantages you have found about working from home? Sam: Sometimes harder to focus ...

Do I enjoy what I do, and would I register and train all over again?

Hey all, I hope you are all keeping safe and warm in this wintry weather!  I was asked today by a potential new agent the question, "Do you enjoy what you do, and would you sign up again given the chance?" To this, I was able to give an easy answer: "Yes I do, and yes I would 😀" OK, so you might be thinking obviously she would say this, but I can back this up with a few reasons and some may be relevant to you, if you're thinking of getting in touch and still aren't sure. Now, if you asked me "Is your job perfect and do you ever have any problems?"  Then my answer would have to be, "No it isn't, and yes I do" , but I don't think anyone can hand on heart say that they are in a perfect work situation. I wanted to answer my new agents questions here so that you could see them, and hopefully it will help someone else make a decision that I honestly think is a massive step to making work work for you .
