Do I enjoy what I do, and would I register and train all over again?

Hey all, I hope you are all keeping safe and warm in this wintry weather!

I was asked today by a potential new agent the question, "Do you enjoy what you do, and would you sign up again given the chance?" To this, I was able to give an easy answer: "Yes I do, and yes I would 😀"

OK, so you might be thinking obviously she would say this, but I can back this up with a few reasons and some may be relevant to you, if you're thinking of getting in touch and still aren't sure.

Now, if you asked me "Is your job perfect and do you ever have any problems?" Then my answer would have to be, "No it isn't, and yes I do", but I don't think anyone can hand on heart say that they are in a perfect work situation.

I wanted to answer my new agents questions here so that you could see them, and hopefully it will help someone else make a decision that I honestly think is a massive step to making work work for you.

Customer service can throw up a few tricky scenarios, and some days you do feel like all the problems are coming your way, but with each problem comes a new lesson.

You learn to handle new situations, and expand your 'personal toolkit', and you can use the 'tools' the next time a situation comes up, so it does get easier each time.

Working from home can throw up a few technical problems as well. This week our internet went down, so I wasn't able to service, and I wasn't able to just contact the tech support in my large office building to come and fix the problem for me.  I work from home, and the snow caused problems which meant I just couldn't get online for a few hours.
On a side note, you really realise how many things you have at home that rely on the internet - I even tucked my girls in at night and asked Alexa to turn off their lights! They laughed at me, thank goodness we still have light switches!

Systems can also be slow, or there may be a connectivity issue that you have to try and figure out but hey, that's true in any job with computers, and I think you have to accept that some days are just not going to be your day!

So to answer the question my new agent asked, "Do you enjoy what you do?" - "Yes I do". I love my role in helping customers, even when faced with a tricky situation or an angry customer.  If handled well, you get the feeling of achievement that you have found a suitable solution, and delivered great service.

In my role I get to make outbound calls, as well as reply to emails, and I like the change in pace.  I also really enjoy phoning a customer who has sent an angry email, because it shows that as a company, we care, and we take our customers seriously.  Working with a company that cares makes you care, and feel cared about.  I feel that this is something you cannot take for granted these days.

Even though I work from home on my own, I am not on my own. The virtual team I work with are supportive, and we have a laugh, so I never feel alone. I get to chat to some lovely customers and have a laugh with them too.

The second part to the question, "Would you sign up again?"  Absolutely - I am so glad I found Arise. It suits my lifestyle, the flexibility is something I have been searching for ever since I had children, and the pay is pretty competitive to other jobs in this area. I get to work in my slippers and have no expensive work clothes to buy, or the costs of commute! I pick my hours around my family and truly this has really come into its own lately!

I am able to homeschool and work; when the announcement that the schools were closing again I was able to change my hours without having to ask any one permission or beg my boss!  I get to be a Mum, which is so important to me, I get to earn, which is necessary, and I get to be me - Sarah whilst working. I have fun, I get the feeling of achievement after a good shift, and I don't have to get crammed next to a stranger on a train or stuck in traffic on the motorway at the end of my day.

So yeah, more often than not, I'm really grateful for finding Arise and taking part in their great training program.  I would 100% do this again, and would recommend it to anyone wanting to balance life and work 😄.
